Who Should Use the Free Plan
The free plan is a good fit when:
- You have a simple site with 3 or fewer groups of custom fields (e.g., a small business site with a Team page, a Hero section, and a Contact page)
- You are testing Field Forge before committing to a paid license
- You need only basic field types (text, images, selections, dates) and do not require repeating data
- You are building a personal blog or hobby site that does not need advanced content modeling
- You want to evaluate the plugin’s editing experience and performance before upgrading
Who Should Upgrade to PRO
PRO is recommended when:
- You need more than 3 field groups — medium to large sites almost always exceed this limit
- Your content includes lists of varying length — team members, FAQs, features, testimonials, pricing tiers (all require Repeaters)
- You want content managers to build page layouts from predefined sections (requires Flexible Content)
- Your site needs global settings like a company phone number, social media links, or a site-wide announcement (requires Options Pages)
- You are migrating from ACF Pro and need to transfer field values (not just definitions)
- You want to scaffold field structures quickly using AI generation or built-in templates
- You manage multiple sites and need export/import to move configurations between them
- You need relation fields to connect posts to each other (related articles, featured products, etc.)
Upgrade Path
You can start on the free plan and upgrade to PRO at any time:
- Purchase a PRO license from the Field Forge website
- Download the PRO plugin ZIP file
- Go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin and install the PRO ZIP
- Activate the PRO plugin (it replaces the free version)
- Go to Field Forge > License and click Connect to Avakode (one-click activation, recommended) — or enter your license key manually
- All your existing field groups and data are preserved — PRO simply unlocks additional features and removes the field group limit
> Good to know: You do not lose any data when upgrading. Your existing field groups, their configurations, and all the content your editors have entered remain exactly as they are. PRO is purely additive — it adds features and removes limits.
